Work Visa
Tier 2 replaced the old Work Permit system and is now one of the only working visa routes into the United Kingdom. In all cases, if you are applying for entry under this visa scheme you MUST be in possession of a job offer and a Certificate of Sponsorship from a UK employer with a valid Tier 2 sponsorship license.
There are 4 main categories that will cover general, intra company transfers, Sports People and Ministers of Religion.
Travel Visa
If you are not a British or EU resident then it may be that you are required to apply for a visitor visa in order to enter the UK. Generally you should always apply for a visitor visa in the country of your origin or residence.
There are different sets of requirements for people applying under this visa category and you should always ensure that you have the most up to date set of these.
Working Holiday Visa
The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme replaced the older UK Working Holiday Visa programme.
The Youth Mobility Scheme is for people who want to live, work and travel in the United Kingdom for a period of up to two years.
Only passport holders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan and Taiwan are able to apply.
Study Visa
Students coming to the UK under a Tier 4 student visa require a university or other UK educational institution on the register of sponsors to sponsor them. They also need to score enough points to be accepted as an international student in the UK.
In some cases, you can bring your partner or children (under dependent visas) with you during your studies but you must show that you have sufficient funds to provide for them.
Business Visa
There are a number of different Business Visas for the United Kingdom that will allow business people to carry out business and work in the United Kingdom.
Once Business Visa applicants are approved they can bring their families to join them in the United Kingdom and generally most of the business visas will lead to a British Passport and Nationality.
Family Visa
The UK Family Visa Programs allow UK nationals, UK permanent residents and EEA-nationals resident in the UK to sponsor partners, and certain family members to join them in the United Kingdom.
The rules and laws under this category are constantly changing and at the moment there is a financial threshold for all spouses of UK residents when applying to enter the UK for settlement purposes.
